This beautiful item was made by Markula Ledlum, a single mother and member of SCHEFO’s Buduburam Kitchen Project. The Kitchen Project is an empowering space for single mothers and their children who have been forced into commercial sex work as a result of conditions on the camp. The situation on Buduburam makes it nearly impossible for the women to earn enough money to support themselves and their children. Many turn to prostitution as a last resort.
